Eyes That Halted Stars

Today I wrote a poem about the passing of time,
crafting memories using details of days gone by.
I started with the streetlamps of every town I've seen,
and we danced among the darkened shops,
dim lights, and empty streets.
Then you looked at me
with these eyes that halted stars.
Torn apart, I cease the memory,
because in my dreams,
we're one and together, left to forever.
These thoughts may be fleeting but it's worth mentioning.
"Today you'll step outside to the rising light.
Bury deep the dreams of heart.
Recall the place, the day, the time."
"Journey's end you seek,
but you'll need open eyes.
You've got the head of a dreamer-
desperate to speak but always ready to hide."
But she looked at me
with these eyes that halted stars.
Worlds apart, struggling for words to speak.
Yet it's in my dreams
we're one and together, left to forever.
I may be a dreamer but it's worth it to me.
Only in my dreams I can see
her presence as a lasting truth.
Tonight I sleep. May tomorrow bring
another memory with you.
